Jeremy returns and Uncle Jon B. comes to see his nieces

Clara had a much better night and day. They changed her CPAP to one that had prongs that went into her nose. She felt more comfortable with it. Her dad is giving her a little comfort.

Olivia, on the other hand, pulled her tube out so they put her back on CPAP again. Her doctor told Katie tonight not to be surprised if she went back on the ventilator. They want her to gain weight and not expend too much energy and calories trying to breathe on her own.

Katie, Jeremy and Uncle Jon Baker visiting Clara. This is the first time Jon got to see the girls since they were born. He said they had changed a lot.

Jon told Katie when he left, "your kids are awesome!"

Special visitors from Fresno and more

Grandma Jannita, Great Grandma Opal and Great Aunt Becky came to visit the girls.
Olivia went back on the ventilator. She had to work too hard on the CPAP. She is going to gain some weight and try again. She has a brand new blanket from a very special friend.
Clara had a rough day with her breathing today. She, also, got a cute new blanket from the Saylers. Hopefully, Saturday will be a better day for all.
Clara and Olivia are truly miracles from God. They have such a network of loving families, friends and strangers, who have been praying for them and sending love their way. Their life journey has touched so many people and those people have touched us so. Your generosity of spirit has been so encouraging to all of us. Your cards, phone calls, visits, emails, food, gifts and offers of support, increases our faith in our fellow man. Please know that we love you and will personally thank you when our girls are bigger and stronger. A special thanks to Laura M. , who is a friend of Julie C.,. She sought Katie out at the hospital to offer her home for us if we need a place to stay. She is a nurse practitioner at Stanford and Katie introduced her to the babies. What a kind and sincere gesture. Our hearts are full of tenderness for the wonderful people on Olivia and Clara's team. Please continue with your prayers.

Our sweet girls

Clara (modeling a new outfit) Olivia (yes, that is a very tiny double chin)
What Not to Wear's Stacy and Clinton say it is not your weight or the size you wear but how you look in your clothes and the twins look great! Clara weighs 930 grams and Olivia weighs 650 grams.
This is Clara's "bedroom" and her nurse Theresa, who takes very good care of her.
(Yes, Dave it is a little out of focus but you still can't have my camera.)

Happy 2nd week birthday, more friends came to visit, and a "funny" thing happened on the way to hospital

We had a "shift change" here. Jeremy and Oscar went back to Fresno for work and Pops (Alan) came back to Palo Alto. We were on our way to the hospital to see the girls and meet Kathy and Danni, when "Bam" we were hit from behind by a car. The car that hit us was pushed into us by a car behind her. Everyone was okay and we had very little damage, so we continued on our way, after the exchange of insurance information and a police report.
My friend Kathy and her daughter Danni came to visit the girls. They were checking out Clara's moniter. Danni is a nurse, too. They loved seeing the twins.

Katie and Olivia had some hugging time. Olivia is still trying to get used to the nasal mask.

Clara fell fast asleep in Katie's arms.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Oscar made the trip to Stanford this time, he was pretty happy about that.

Clara and Jeremy are having a special time. She loves being held by her dad and mom. It is her best thing!
Clara and her mom sitting skin to skin and heart to heart.

Olivia did quite well on her new nasal mask last night. The nurse practitioner is happy with her, and we are, too.

Olivia was the first one to get held, bright and early this morning. Well, it was more like
10:00 a.m. She, also, thinks this is great fun. Katie and Jeremy had a meeting with the Developmental Specialist in the morning
and the Lactation Consultant in the afternoon. They were both very informative.
Olivia and Katie having a cozy time together this morning.

When we came in the hospital, Clara had a cannula (for all of us nonmedical people a cannula is tubes in her nose to deliver oxygen while her lungs do the work). This is a step up from her nasal mask. She was on it for about an hour and then went back on her other mask, but this is progress.

Baby Fashion Show

Olivia Hoff dons a lovely knit cap, with a blend of red, blue, yellow and green. She looks sporty in this classic cap. Meet you on the slopes?

Not to be out done, Clara Hoff, looks delightful in this springy corral and pink floral kimono. Hippity Hop, Easter is on its way!

Katie and Jeremy enjoy lunch on the patio outside the cafeteria.

Olivia now has a nasal mask just like her sister's.

Clara gets more holding time with her parents. A good time was had by all.
Although they are growing and progressing, every day continues to be a challenge for the twins and their parents. Please continue to pray for them. We know that prayer works. Thank you.
